Through music, storytelling and spoken word, Samantha Whelan Kotkas and Priscille Bukasa will introduce students to the life and musical legacy of legendary Canadian jazz pianist Dr. Oscar Peterson. Together, they will explore how music, words and movement help us understand, express and respond to the world around us. They will start with an assembly for all the students participating, and then they will work in individual classrooms to encourage the students to create through music, movement, writing and drawing. This initiative is being supported by Honens and the Calgary Foundation with support from Irene and Walt Deboni, Andrea Brussa and Buckingjam Palace.
